How to Use the Smart Card Application Web Site

Welcome to the new Smart Card Application Web Site! This site allows you to do all of the following:

  1. Apply for a Smart Card for the first time
  2. Apply for a replacement Smart Card if you need one
  3. Keep track of your application's progress.
  4. Change your name, email address and phone numbers (see below)
  5. Manage your security questions (see below)
  6. Prepare an application for someone else who cannot do it themselves or for someone you share an email address with (see the note below and click on 'Frequently Asked Questions' at the bottom of the site for more information)

You can do these from any computer or mobile device with an Internet connection.

You will go through 2 steps to create or access your profile:

  1. When you enter the web site you will be prompted for a current email address. If you are returning to the site, use the same email address that you used previously (if you need to update your email address you will be able to by editing your profile unless a prior application is still being processed).
  2. A message will be sent containing a link that will grant you provisional entry to the web site.
  3. When you follow the link you will be required to select three security questions if you haven't already done so.
  4. On subsequent visits you will have three chances to answer one of your security questions correctly in order to access the web site.

Once you have gained access to the web site you will be presented with a dashboard that displays information about your application, your profile and, if there are any, the applications you have created for others. It will also allow you to work on them. What you will be able to do to an application will depend on it's status. For example, you will be able to create an application unless one has already been created and has not yet shipped. If you or another applicant has never had a smart card you will be able to apply for a new one, otherwise you will be able to apply for a replacement card.

IMPORTANT NOTE: NEVER apply for someone else by creating an application for yourself and modifying it with their information. If you do your personal information may be overwritten with theirs. This will result in your smart card number, name and photo being erased from our records. Event registrations that require entry of your Smart Card name and number will fail and it will be very difficult to verify you using your Smart Card when you enter the event. Instead select one of the 'Prepare' options at the bottom of the dashboard.
